Hi all you 'CHICKS' who may or may not have joined us on the 19th. It didn't go off without a hitch but it was a good event and we are rarin' to go for our next outing. Seemed the Crystal River Tearoom chose to go out of business, quite suddenly, and neglect to let our hostess's know. They handled it like troopers and directed us to Cafe on the Avenue and they, graciously, received us. We dined ElFresco and were 16 in number. We lost 4 of the RSVP's and hope you were not floating around Crystal River searching for
us.

Message from the Queen Mother Hen:
Fancy, frivolous females, all decked out in finery of scarlet and purple
sprightly climbed the steps at Isaac Walton Lodge for the March outing
hostessed by Claire and Jeanne. We were 20 in number and rubbed elbows
with another Red Hat group who dallied on the porch to have a
"meeting", a word that isn't even in our vocabulary. It was a
beautiful day to enjoy the scene.

April saw the "Chicks" at Chateau Chan Sezz in Inverness,
hosted by Marge and Grace. We were 12 Chicks and one lone Rooster, a lone
male that seemed to enjo the whole experience.

Carol hostessed May with 15 Chicks in tow as we braved Nicole's in
Crystal River. Food presentation was elegantly done and the brood of
Chicks seem to be really bonding.

Directions: Take Dunklin St. to 495. Turn left into Crystal River. Cross 19 at the light and
Crystal Paradise is
about a half block on the right side of the street. I think that the
street is known as Citrus Ave. when it gets inside town. We will have the
private dining room.

Red Hat Fall Fling
The 3 Red Hat Chapters in Citrus County will be hostessing a Red Hat Fall Fling. The event will be an elegant catered luncheon at the new Citrus Springs Community Center. Mike
Marino from 7 Rivers Hospital will be catering the meal. More details to follow.
Note that we will not be
meeting for lunch the month of October.

5-hour Skyway Bridge Tour on the Starlite Princess

As part of Citrus County's 1st Annual Heritage Week, the Red Hat society, the
Citrus County Historical Society and the City of Inverness have combined efforts to
transform downtown Inverness into a "Great Gatsby", 1920 theme. Red Hatters are
invited to dress in 1920's attire and the day will consist of the
following activities: Croquet on the lawn, parade around the Courthouse, misc. prizes and discounts

Mission Inn Luncheon and Lakeridge Winery Tour

Our hostess Chicks for November are June Towner and Jeanne Decker. We will not meet for a "formal" lunch. Instead the plan is to come and shop the Crystal River Historical area. Then, at 2:30PM, we'll meet up at the Cafe on the Avenue for Dessert. Rumor has it they have some excellent desserts!!!

"April Shower Luncheon"
The Ocala Hilton
Hostesses: Queen Mother Hen Doris and Betty Sullivan
Queen Mother Hen, Doris Holdread, hosted the April event on the 21st. She was
assisted by Betty Sullivan who provided a lovely centerpiece of Pansies and tiny
foil wrapped chocolates in the same theme. She also provided door prizes. Sadly,
she wasn't able to attend. We had 23 Chicks who had a cackling good time.
The server was a really accommodating guy and the buffet was simply marvelous.
It was Italian Day so we had the choice of many expertly prepared dishes and a
choice of a personal chef to prepare fresh pasta dishes of one desired. Desserts
were delicious and I saw not one Chick skip the dessert table.
We were pretty much to ourselves and were able to pig-out and have girl talk to our
hearts content.
