Red Hat Day April 25, 2004 [click on a photo to enlarge it] Celebrating the 6th year anniversary of Red Hatting saw Queen Mother Hen of the Citrus Spring Chicks and her 6 Chicks strutting their stuff with about 500 other Red Hats from a tri-county area. It was a meticulously planned event with few errors. Enjoy was the theme of the day and from what I saw, the Red Hats were enjoying. Our group consisted of the Ole Hen Doris Holdread, Norma Rourke, Doris Behrens,
Carol Findlay, Diane Pifer and Jeanette Carnie. Oops, I left off Lois Barnett who
arrived late and I had to hold up my poster I had made in case I couldn't find my
Chicks. I couldn't go outside and she couldn't get inside because I had her ticket.
Well, my sign saved the day. On Red Hat Day ladies representing 71 chapters (including 69 queens) of the Citrus, Pasco and Hernando Counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida, met for a luncheon at Rock Crusher Canyon in Crystal River. It was planned by a group of chapter queens, formed last fall by Queen of the Windsorettes, Ruth Gruhn. These ladies meet to share information and ideas. This event drew over 500 women! Queen Judy Smith of the Gulf Coast Sassy Gals and Queen Nancy Cable of the Flirty Birdies co-chaired, with a committee made up of 13 queens from the Tri-County area. |
